We offer year-round youth basketball. From Moss Point to Bay St Louis, get your team in the game. Ages 6-12 boys’ and girls’ teams. 8 weeks of basketball for the fall, spring, and summer. You choose your players, within the correct age group and gender. Our entry fee is minimal, and our rules set our kids up for success. No more rules that limit our kid’s ability to truly learn the game. Our program is designed to allow the kids to reach their full potential.   1. REGISTRATION FEE:

Registration fees: $50 for one child participating, $85 for two children participating, $125 for three children participating (siblings only).

2. PLAYER ELIGIBILITY:

All teams and players must be registered in order to participate.

Age groups are designated as follows: For age group placement, the cutoff date will be September 1, for applicable year. Age groups are:

  • 6/7 y/o Girls
  • 6/7 y/o Boys
  • 8/9 y/o Girls
  • 8/9 y/o Boys
  • 10/11/12* y/o Girls
  • 10/11/12* y/o Boys

Players that cannot provide birth records (if age is in question) will not be allowed to participate until such time proof of age is presented.

Children requesting to play up in a non-applicable age group must have league approval. Once you have been approved to play up, you will stay up for the duration of your affiliation with the league.

3. GAME PLAY RULES:

Mississippi High School Basketball Rules will apply to all boys and girls age divisions, except where the following rules supersede.

For 6/7 y/o age groups games will be played in 14-minute running clock halves. All other age groups will be played in 16-minute halves. Regulation time will begin with the final minute of each half.

Rosters must be turned in to the official score keeper prior to the start of the game. All participating players must be included on game roster.

For ages 6/7 y/o groups rim heights are lowered to 8.5 feet. Basketball sizes will be -27.5 inches.

There are four (2 per half) time outs per game for All age groups. Time outs do not carry over.

For 6/7 y/o age groups, at HALFTIME each player with shoot (2) free throws that count towards the total score. The team with less players can select additional shots by a particular player so even shots are demonstrated.

For 6/7 y/o age groups, OVERTIME will consist of a Coach selecting top (2) shooters to compete in a shoot off. Each team will be given one additional time-out for each overtime period.

All other age groups length of overtime period will be two minutes, in the event of a tie in regulation. One overtime period will be played during regular season play. Each team will be given one additional time-out for each overtime period.

​Ball specifications for games are as follows:
• All Boys & Girls 8/9-10/11/12 y/o 28.5” (official women’s size)
• All Boys 10/11/12 y/o 28.5” (official women’s size)

Clock Rule: A stop clock will be used and stopped for time-outs and last 2 regulated minutes.

For ages 6/7 y/o group there will be no 3 or 5 seconds in the paint violations.

For ages 6/7 y/o group will not count scores if a player shoots in the opposing team’s basket. However, this will count as a turnover and give the other team the ball.

For ages 6/7 y/o group VIOLATIONS are called (travel/double dribble). Officials are reasonable and will not call every violation. Judgement calls will be in effect.

For ages 6/7 y/o groups (1) coach from each team is allowed on court for instructions.

For ages 6/7 y/o groups ball can be put in at center court, sideline, or baseline once possession is sustained.

For ages 6/7 y/o groups (2) shots are awarded on all fouls the final minute of game.

For ages 6/7 y/o groups full court press the final (2) minutes of each half.

For ages 6/7 y/o groups half court traps at any point of the game. All defenders must defend inside the 3-point arch until the final (2) minutes of each half.

For ages 6/7 y/o groups free throws will be shot from 11’ from the baseline.

Starting at ages 10/11/12 y/o, 5 foul violations will result in player disqualification.

No press restrictions for any other age groups above 6/7 y/o age groups.

No fast break restrictions for ANY groups.

10 second rule applies in all age groups above 6/7 y/o age groups in bringing the ball across half court.

All players are required to play equivalent to a quarter in each game. Exceptions to the playing time requirement are for injuries, illness, or disciplinary reasons. Disciplinary reasons must be brought to the attention of the disciplined child’s parent, referee, scorekeeper, and opposing coach prior to the starting of the game, unless action is taken during the game. Complaints and obvious violations of playing time during the season will be handled by the league director/s whenever possible. Parents always have the option of bringing playing time issues to the league director/s for resolution, when necessary.

4. CONDUCT

The conduct of players, coaches, and parents should be above reproach both on and off the court. Any misbehavior or misconduct, on or off the court, will be subject to technical foul, player/coach eviction or team disqualification from a game. Parental misconduct could result in parental removal and also could result in team disqualification from a game.

Each coach will be responsible for all members of his/her team.

If a technical foul is called on a player, the player must sit out two minutes of the quarter. If the time clock is under two minutes, the player must sit out the remaining time until the end of the quarter.

Disqualification: A team and/or player is subject to immediate disqualification from the game for any misconduct deemed inappropriate, unacceptable, unsafe and/or abusive by the league director/s or residing court officials. This includes but is not limited to defacing and/or destruction of gym, trashing team bench area, fighting, unsportsmanlike play and/or conduct. Any disqualification is the sole decision of the league director/s or league officials.

5. COACHES:

​A coach is only allowed to be the head coach of two teams. They may help with other teams, but the schedule will only be worked around the two teams.

All coaches will go through a background check with the Harrison County Sheriff department.

​A team is only allowed two coaches and a score keeper on the bench during all games.

DRESS CODE– All Coaches/scorekeepers on the bench must adhere to the dress code:

Coaching polo, coaching/team shirt, dress pants, jeans, sweatpants, and dress shoes or tennis shoes. Open toed dress shoes are ok for female coaches.

No hats, shorts, sandals, sunglasses, or Bluetooth earpieces.

6. GAME SCHEDULES

All game schedule change requests must be approved and rescheduled by the league director/s.

All game cancellations must be done within three days’ advance notice to the league director/s. Referee fees for any game cancelled without three days’ notice will be paid by the coach responsible for the cancellation, regardless of the reason.
